Paper Mache Specimen Jars

Created entirely using waste materials and secondhand items, my newest collection combines my interest in natural species and being environmentally friendly.
The fungi and skulls were created using waste cardboard and paper mache using a natural flour glue. The moss has been created using secondhand and waste materials using embroidery, crochet and punch needle techniques. I sourced the jars from second hand sources and created each scene to specially fit the space. Finished with a handwritten specimen label, these pieces look great together.
I decided to create everlasting mushrooms in a jar so they can be admired all year round. I am also fascinated by bones found naturally, and I decided to create an intricate life-sized rook skull.
